Rui Prada


Rui Prada is a Senior Researcher at the Intelligent Agents and Synthetic Characters Group (GAIPS), INESC-ID Lisbon and an Associate Professor at the Computer Science Department of Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa (IST). He has a degree in Computer Science with a specialisation in Artificial Intelligence and a PhD in the same field. At IST he teaches courses on User Centred Design, Game Design and Development and Socially Intelligent Agents and coordinates the Specialisation in Games. At GAIPS he develops his research interests in the fields of Social Intelligent Agents, Human-Agent Interaction, Computer Games and Applied Gaming, User Centred and Experience Design. He has participated in fourteen National and EU research projects, coordinating two of them. He was an invited researcher at the Global Lab, National Institute of Informatics (NII) – Tokyo for 5 months in 2009 and received a NIAS (Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities and Social Sciences) Fellowship for one semester in 2013. He is author and co-author of more than 100 peer-reviewed scientific papers presented at international events and journals. He was a member of the organisation committee of nine national and international conferences, including serving as program co-chair of DiGRA-FDG’2016, AAMAS’2015, ACE’2011 and IBERAMIA’2008. He is co-author of the book “Design e Desenvolvimento de Jogos” and is co-founder and currently the president of the Portuguese Society of Sciences of Videogames (SPCVideojogos).
